Meet your instructor



Alisa Woods is the owner and executive chef for Sift n Sprinkle Bakery in Des Moines, Iowa specializing in decorated cakes, macarons, and beautiful dessert trays.  

Alisa started competitive baking in 2013, entering five items in the Iowa State Fair to honor her grandmother who had entered the fair for many years before succumbing to dementia when Alisa was in college. That hobby became a full-fledged summer event, entering almost 40 items in the 2021 Iowa State Fair. 

In 2020 Alisa was laid off from her job and began baking as a creative and productive outlet. That hobby quickly became Sift n Sprinkle.

Alisa teaches in-person courses at The Recipe in Ames, Iowa where students can learn the ins and outs of baking award winning desserts.
